C5 channel system

Metro Performance Glass are able to offer a heavy duty base fixed channel balustrade system tested and approved for use as a fully frameless glass safety from falling barrier up to C5 occupancy type (area’s subject to overcrowding, such as theatre’s, cinemas. Grandstands, discotheques, bars, auditoria, shopping malls, assembly areas, etc).  Utilising a heavy duty base mounted aluminium channel section with adjustable glass clamps and fully cantilevered glass panels, this system offers the ultimate fully frameless glass barrier system for un-obstructed views in high traffic / crowding situations.

• Occupancy types: A, A(other), B, E, D, C1/C2, C3, & C5 (subject to design wind pressure, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type).

• Wind zones up to and including Extra High, or 4.8kPa ULS (subject to occupancy type, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type). Higher wind pressures may be available by request – contact your local Metro Branch, or e-mail technical@metroglass.co.nz

• 25.52mm Safelite STF (Sentry) up to 1500mm height & 4.8kPa ULS. Taller panels with thicker glass (maximum 33.52mm SafeLite STF (Sentry)) available by request – contact your local Metro Branch, or e-mail technical@metroglass.co.nz

• Safelite STF (Sentry) glass allows for un-obstructed views, with stiffener brackets or interlinking rails only required for panels < 1500mm wide, or > 1500mm height.

• Standard with anodised finish to achieve a Satin Stainless Brushed appearance, with custom powdercoated or anodised finishes available by request.

ClearVista channel system

A heavy duty side fixed channel balustrade & pool fence system with vertical pairs of adjustable fixings to the structure (to allow for un-even mounting surfaces). The ability to adjust and lock the fixings to the structure minimise the need to additional packers for alignment, and make this system ideally suited for use where a waterproof membrane (WPM) is present.

• Requires a specific design PS1.

• Occupancy types: A, A(other), B, E, & C3 (subject to design wind pressure, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type).

• Wind zones up to and including Extra High (subject to occupancy type, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type). Higher wind pressures may be available by request – contact your local Metro Branch, or e-mail technical@metroglass.co.nz

• Side fixed to Timber, Steel & Concrete (reduced capacity limits apply when fixed to timber). Other options may be available by request – contact your local Metro Branch, or e-mail technical@metroglass.co.nz).

• Maximum 1200mm height (from top of channel section) subject to occupancy type, wind pressure, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type.

• Minimum 12mm TempaFloat, maximum 17.52mm SafeLite STF (Sentry).

• Available in fully frameless or with interlinking top rail options.  Safelite STF (Sentry) glass options allow for un-obstructed views (subject to minimum panel width requirements). Where specified, stiffener brackets or interlinking rails must be connected to supporting structure.

• Standard in mill finish aluminum, allowing your custom choice of powdercoated or anodised finish.

PosiGlaze channel system

Side & base fixed channel balustrade & pool fence system utilising a high strength hollow-core aluminium channel section with adjustable glass clamps and fully cantilevered glass panels.

• Standard design PS1 available.  Other options may be available by specific design PS1 (additional fees and extended lead-time may apply for specific design PS1 requests).

• Occupancy types: A, A(other), B, E, D, C1/C2, & C3 (subject to design wind pressure, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type).

• Wind zones up to and including Extra High, or 4.5kPa ULS (subject to occupancy type, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type). Higher wind pressures may be available by request – contact your local Metro Branch, or e-mail technical@metroglass.co.nz

• Side & base fixed to Timber, Steel & Concrete, with fixings @ 200mm or 400mm centres (reduced capacity limits apply when fixed to timber).

• Maximum 1130mm height (from top of channel section) subject to occupancy type, wind pressure, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type.

• Minimum 12mm TempaFloat, maximum 21.52mm SafeLite STF (Sentry).

• Available in fully frameless or with interlinking top rail options.  Safelite STF (Sentry) glass options allow for un-obstructed views (subject to minimum panel width requirements). Where specified, stiffener brackets or interlinking rails must be connected to supporting structure.

Infinity channel system

Side & base fixed channel balustrade & pool fence system with continuous cover extrusions and heavy duty glass clamps at each fixing location. Fully cantilevered glass panels can be aligned/adjusted from a single side.

• Standard design PS1 available.  Other options may be available by specific design PS1 (additional fees and extended lead-time may apply for specific design PS1 requests).

• Occupancy types: A, A(other), B, & C3 (subject to design wind pressure, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type).

Single disc (75 and 100) system

Minimalist balustrade and pool fence system with 75mm or 100mm diameter stainless steel discs, side mounted with full height cantilevered glass panels.

• Standard design PS1 available.  Other options may be available by specific design PS1.

• Occupancy types: A, A(other), B, E, & C3 (subject to design wind pressure, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type).

• Side fixed to Steel & Concrete, with fixings spacings subject to design wind pressure, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure. 100mm disc system also suitable for fixing to reinforced masonry block.

• Maximum 1250mm height (from centre of fixing) subject to occupancy type, wind pressure, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type.

• Minimum 12mm TempaFloat, maximum 17.52mm SafeLite STF (Sentry). Other options (eg thicker glass) may be available by request – contact your local Metro Branch, or e-mail technical@metroglass.co.nz

Mini Post aluminium system

Side & base fixed aluminium mini post balustrade & pool fence system offering an economical and minimalist appearance option for a wide range of installations.

• Standard design PS1 available.  Other options may be available by specific design PS1 (additional fees and extended lead-time may apply for specific design PS1 requests).

• Occupancy types: A, A(other) & C3 (subject to design wind pressure, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type).

• Wind zones up to and including Very High (subject to occupancy type, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type).

• Side & base fixed to Timber, Steel & Concrete. Fixing spacing varies subject to design wind pressure, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure, and reduced capacity limits apply when fixed to timber.

• Maximum 1200mm height (from mounting/walking surface) subject to occupancy type, wind pressure, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type.

• 12mm TempaFloat glass with interlinking top rail (pool fences not protecting a fall > 1m do not require a rail). Interlinking rails must be connected to supporting structure at both ends.

• Standard in silver frost powdercoated finish, with custom powdercoated or anodised finishes available by request.

Full height aluminium post system

Side & base fixed full height aluminium post balustrade & pool fence systems with semi frameless appearance, offering a proven economical option for a wide range of installations. 

• Standard design PS1 available.  Other options may be available by specific design PS1 (additional fees and extended lead-time may apply for specific design PS1 requests).

• Two post sizes available – AP65 (with a semi-frameless glass option) or AP78 (side fix version offers concealed fastenings).

• AP65 suitable for occupancy types A, A(other) & C3.  AP78 suitable for occupancy types A, A(other), B, E, C1/C2, C3 & D. Suitability subject to design wind pressure, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type.

• Wind zones up to and including Extra High (subject to occupancy type, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type).

• Side & base fixed to Timber, Steel & Concrete. Fixing spacing varies subject to design wind pressure, required barrier height, glass type, mounting structure, and reduced capacity limits apply when fixed to timber.

• AP65 maximum 1300mm height, AP78 maximum 1500mm height, subject to occupancy type, wind pressure, glass type, mounting structure & fixing type.

• AP65 available with 10 or 12mm TempaFloat glass with interlinking rails (pool fences not protecting a fall > 1m do not require a rail), or 13.52mm SafeLite STF without a rail. AP78 available with 10, 12 or 15mm TempaFloat glass with interlinking rails. Interlinking rails must be connected to supporting structure at both ends.

Point Fixed Infill Hardware

Where one of our proprietary balustrade systems isn’t quite what you’re looking for, Metro Performance Glass also offer a range of point fix or edge clamp options for glass infill panels. Our expert design team can work with you to help find a solution to suit your design parameters and desired aesthetic.

• Edge clamp brackets in square and circular options, to suit 8-12mm thickness glass.

• 50mm disc fittings with a range of surface appearance and mounting options (from simple welded tabs to bespoke spider brackets/arms).

• Smaller disc options and countersunk fixings by specific design PS1.
