Metro testing and compliance
The performance specifications require that insulated glass units have a minimum design life of 25 years. Metro Glass manufacturing sites are subject to regular and independent testing of insulated glass units to the BS EN 1279-2 in accordance with the Insulated Glass Units Manufacturing Association (IGUMA) rules inclusive of long-term tests. Although this process is considered a good indicator of long term durability, the Metro Glass warranty is limited to 10 years.
Our manufacturing sites across New Zealand are licensed producers of insulated glass and safety glass products in compliance with the BS EN 1279, AS/NZS 2208 standards respectively and are independently audited.
Single and laminated glass processing is undertaken in compliance to AS/NZS 4667:2000
Toughened and laminated is undertaken in compliance AS/NZS 2208:1996
Insulated Glass and glazing (BS EN1279 ) is undertaken in compliance to the NZS 4223, parts 1-4 Design, Glass Selection and Installation.

Metro Frameless Glass conducts a comprehensive testing program, utilising independent testing laboratories and/or independent witnesses from experienced third-party consulting engineers.
Compliance
The producer statement system is intended to provide Building Consent Authorities (BCA’s) with reasonable grounds for the issue of a Building Consent or a Code Compliance Certificate, without having to duplicate design or construction checking undertaken by others.
Guide to visual quality of glass in residential buildings
The Window and Glass Association (WGANZ) has recently updated their guidance document to provide information for the assessment of glass in all buildings. The statements and tolerances are based on a mix of the applicable standards and best industry practice.
There is also a link within the Window and Glass Association document to a guide (tolerances, materials and workmanship) released in 2015 by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) intended to provide assistance to contractors and homeowners who may be unsure of what constitutes a defect for the purposes of the Building Act 2004.
