He Whare Hono ō Tūwharetoa - Taupō

This landmark project in the heart of Taupō, is a new civic hub that brings together Ngāti Tūwharetoa entities and Taupō District Council under one roof for the first time, it also houses local economic development agency Amplify, and Love Taupō.

Project Overview

Metro Glass designed and installed the intricate Spider fixed glass canopy at the entrance, made up of 65 digitally printed panels using 17.52mm SafeLite STF Toughened Laminate (SentryGlas).

Unique Project Requirements

Our team spent many hours working alongside the Architect and our in house digital print specialists to ensure every detail was aligned, no small feat given the complex geometry. The six large pyramid/triangle forms each required a minimum 5 degree fall in multiple directions, making pattern alignment especially challenging.

Time delays due to steel design caused completion date changes and challenges, the building was meant to have been completed by November 2024 - however, it opened in Jan 2025.
