Glass-windowed tower by the sea on sandy beach

Project Overview

The name ‘Te Pae’ was gifted by the local iwi, Te Kawerau ā Maki, which means 'to perch' and it is constructed from precast concrete. The tower's windows can be opened for ventilation, plus two circular porthole windows on each side provide clear views back to the clubhouse and main road.

Unique Project Requirements

This unique project was crafted with durability in mind, given the relentless nature of Piha's environment. The circular design allows unobstructed views up and down the beach, with no dead corners. While a band of purpose built double glazed windows wrap around the front, using Metro Xcel™ Low E glass, tinted for added solar control - ensuring optimal visibility for lifeguards on duty.
